WATER EFFICIENCY

The combined challenges of population growth, changing land uses, and a finite supply of water, action is required to secure water supply without having a detrimental impact on the environment. New developments should therefore:

1. Reduce the risk of flood through the use of sustainable drainage infrastructure

2. Minimise use of mains water by incorporating water saving measures and equipment, and, designing residential development so that mains water consumption is reduced

3. Promote the use of rainwater harvesting and using dual potable and grey water recycling measures
