The Future of AV

Intelligent Walls

Meeting room walls could be designed with intelligent glazed screens addressing key office or corridor spaces – as per current GS PTC layouts. These serve a multitude of purposes:

  • Providing privacy for conversations or sensitive presentations as needed by GS team. This also indicates clearly to potential GS team users when the room is occupied

  • This ‘privacy-mode’ could be controlled via an internal Goldman Sachs UX app

  • This provides an opportunity for GS team to focus and concentrate of said meeting / presentation free from external distraction

The privacy wall can also double-up as a projection screen should the need arise to re-orientate said meeting room

Curved Screen

Research has found that curved monitors is more ergonomically responsive by providing better viewing angles and less strain to the eyes (including neuromuscular issues) due to a wider field of view and more effecting viewing angles that prevent the user from tiring their eyes out.

With more hybrid working expected for the future, the GS team will find themselves staring at their screen more.

As observed on the GS trading floor, curved screens can be brought into the meeting rooms.

The curved wall therefore supports the GS user eye movement in the space – removing opportunities for clash (flat vs straight wall) and promoting a seamless movement of the eye (curved wall to support curved screen). This directly affects the health & wellbeing of Goldman Sachs employees.

We therefore suggest that new meeting rooms, or existing meeting rooms are retrofitted with demountable curved walls.

Space in Space Pod

The Qabin Collection from Ahrend allows you to create separate spaces in an open office environment. Each box individually provides a comfortable, focused workspace where one or more employees can isolate themselves from their surroundings, and to discreetly take video calls without disrupting the open plan office environment. For greater collaboration, greater focus and more peace.

We expect that the UC&C technology will be able to allow seamless integration with the GS Space in Space pods potentially being trailed in GS Birmingham.

PAD Studio are developing this particular workplace feature and GDS have collaborated to integrate the Space in Space Pod as part of the AV experience.

The use of the Space in Space pod aligns with Goldman Sachs core value of sustainability. They only require a single power socket point to be used so can easily be installed as a retrofit item for the existing Goldman Sachs office locations No demolition or removal of fabric is required, reducing the environmental impact of the upgrade.
